I love West Hollywood because of the diversity of home-grown businesses, such as Craig's and The Abbey.

My hope is that we don’t lose local businesses to big box development or zoning codes that don’t look towards the future. 

My Solution:

As a former Planning Commissioner, I know that our General Plan and Zoning Ordinance is our planning “toolbox.”  We can implement zoning codes that encourage the growth of local businesses and discourage formula retail / big box chain stores. It’s been done in cities like San Francisco and New York City, and is certainly doable in West Hollywood.

We need to support and protect our neighborhood-serving businesses and independent shops – after all, they contribute to our economic health and they help make West Hollywood, "West Hollywood."
